Out of Pocket

"A middle-class family of four making $66,000 would still have to pay about 10 percent of its income in premiums, not counting co-payments and deductibles." per Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar of AP today.

That would be $6,600 premiums plus co-pays and meeting deductibles. Sure sounds like a blessing to me.

There's also a marriage penalty in the new bill. If two single people earning $30,000 each live together, their costs should be about $1,300 each; however, should they marry, their costs will approach $10,000 a year.

We are watching as Congress finalizes our Christmas gift that will keep on taking.

'til later
