Defining Rich

During the Saddleback interviews last week, both candidates were asked to define rich. The very junior senator Obama quickly stated that those earning $150,000 were rich. Now we know his target but we all know he will have to increase taxes on many below that mark.

The veteran and long time Senator from Arizona, John McCain, answered that he wished all Americans work and aspire to enjoying wealth. How encouraging. How like our founding fathers who stated we all have the right to pursue happiness.

They did not say we were entitled to happiness. We have the right and freedom to pursue same.

Think of that a while. The pursuit. It implies effort, work, motion. It seems the work also entails over coming increasing taxes.

'til later
